Eligible patients can access free advice and NHS-funded* treatment for seven common conditions. Get free expert advice and treatment without the need to see your GP. We may be able to conduct some pharmacy first consultations remotely via video call.
Seven common conditions covered by the Pharmacy First Service
What is the process for accessing the Pharmacy First Service?
- Acute Otitis Media (1 to 17 years of age)
- Impetigo (1 year of age and over)
- Infected Insect Bites (1 year of age and over)
- Sinusitis (12 years of age and over)
- Shingles (18 years of age and over)
- Sore Throat (5 years of age and over)
- Uncomplicated UTIs (Women aged 16-64 years)
Convenient access to expert health advice & treatments - Pharmacy First
As experts in medicine, pharmacists are highly qualified healthcare professionals with experience in advising on the treatment of common conditions. Participating pharmacies have completed additional training to offer safe and convenient access to expert advice and treatment for the seven conditions included in the Pharmacy First Service, without the need to see your GP. Please Note: If you are unable to access the NHS Pharmacy First service due to eligibility reasons, we may still be able to help you, through our Private Walk in Clinic service. Please ask our pharmacy team for further details.
For a video consultation, you may be required to provide photographic ID and must ensure you are in a private location where your conversation with the clinician cannot be over heard. In some cases, a video call may not be suitable, and you may be asked to attend an in-person consultation instead.
